After the incredible week on the rail trails, it was safe to say I was exhausted but very happy with memories made for a lifetime. I would love to go back and do it when all the rail trails are finished. It was time to leave Gladstone and join the dreaded Bruce Highway…for weeks it’sContinue reading “Bruce Highway! The Great Queensland Rail Trail Adventure
Brisbane to Ipswich– Bike maintenance! A 5am wake up to get to the bike shop in Indoorapilly ( outside of Brisbane) , the only shop that had the rim I needed. My cracked rim had to be addressed , it’s not something I could ignore as all my bags on the back would only makeContinue reading “The Great Queensland Rail Trail Adventure”
Brisbane – Gold Coast (100km) Sun is no joke – lessons learnt from Heat Stroke
After an epic time in New Zealand with my Mum and Jake it was time to get back on the bike and continue the Australia cycle. Slightly jealous of the New Zealand cooler weather but also very excited for the next leg. The lovely Matt had looked after my bicycle whilst I was away. HeContinue reading “Brisbane – Gold Coast (100km) Sun is no joke – lessons learnt from Heat Stroke”
Sydney – Brisbane ( Day 12,13,14,15)
The final few legs before I reached Gold Coast airport. I had done all the hard work the days before so I decided to actually stop and see things. Another reason to chill on the cycling distances is because I had a surf lesson booked in Byron Bay. Finally a day in the water. ThanksContinue reading “Sydney – Brisbane ( Day 12,13,14,15)”
Sydney- Brisbane ( Day 9,10,11)
Day 9- Valla Beach to Moonee Beach (70km) Woke up in paradise! A beautiful orange glow on the river around 5:45 and I sat in the chair to take it in. I decided it was too beautiful to rush the morning so I relaxed. I went for a swim and slowly took the tent down.Continue reading “Sydney- Brisbane ( Day 9,10,11)”
Sydney – Brisbane Day 6,7,8
Day 6- Seals Rock to Taree I left Seals Rock at the crack of dawn as I had work scheduled for the afternoon! A beautiful ride through the national park, following the lake. It was really pleasant. No big hills , just enjoyable riding! I passed a cheesecake shop and I had to pop in.Continue reading “Sydney – Brisbane Day 6,7,8”
Sydney – Brisbane ( Day 4 &5)
Day 4- Nelsons bay to Seals Rocks I had a lazy morning as the earliest ferry I could get was at 11am, I have been hopping on small ferries that don’t take very long but allow me to reach the end of a peninsula and hop over , in turn saving me sooo many kms!Continue reading “Sydney – Brisbane ( Day 4 &5)”
Sydney-Brisbane! Day 1 , 2 ,3
10 days’ rest in Sydney was the dream but also flew by. I met good friends, watched the NYE fireworks, the cricket and went to the Blue Mountains which were incredible. The Blue mountains went above and beyond expectations, the sheer size of the wilderness and the lack of people ( in some areas). LaurenContinue reading “Sydney-Brisbane! Day 1 , 2 ,3”
It’s Christmas!! Day 10, 11, 12. Sydney Bound!
Day 10 Goulburn to Kangaroo Valley ( 108km, 1061m climbed) I can’t believe Christmas day has come around already! I decided to still ride on Christmas day for many reasons. I had some really lovely offers to be hosted for Xmas day but I had a strong pull to cycle. Of course, it helps toContinue reading “It’s Christmas!! Day 10, 11, 12. Sydney Bound!”
Day 8 & Day 9- warming up!
Day 8- Cooma to Canberra– 123km , 1100 elevation climbed. This day was up with one of my favourites. I just felt fit and capable of the distance which is always a nice feeling. I started the day early and got out the door all kitted up by 6am. Putting the bags back on isContinue reading “Day 8 & Day 9- warming up!”
